Love the hat. Awed by your skill in obliterating facial features after creating them. If there is a way to think about that, would you share with me?

Be glad to share. First, I paint the face, (or other details) as accurately as possible. I’m using Liquin as a medium. Then, I take my 4″blender brush (Raphael intended for varnishing) and lightly pass over the wet paint, in one direction, and if possible, just once. As you can guess, this may not succeed every time, but when it does, it’s beautiful ! Good luck, Aline, and thanks for your interest !

Thank you. So it’s more or less a matter of chance–and courage! I’m not sure I understand what a blender brush is. Any soft brush, or one like a fan brush?

Aline, I found that a fan brush was not large enough to get the effect I wanted. I use a 4″ brush with soft synthetic fibers. A lot of the effect also depends on the amount of pigment on the canvas before the blending. It took me a very long time to achieve the proficiency that I now have. Chance and courage plus time will do it !
