When reading a biography of Frank Benson (one of my favorite painters) I found a letter he sent to his daughter at art school, “forget about painting sunsets, they are impossible”—that was the challenge I needed to try it. Not easy, but it is possible. Go ahead and give it a try.
Dear Maurice, I’ve been a fan of your paintings for a long while now. May I use one or two of your images in a couple of blog posts I am working on? One to be featured with a poem by David Whyte, titled ” Melting into that fierce heat of living.” The other to go with a series of images in a post called “A Study in Blue and Gold.” Both will be fully attributed, of course, with links back to your site. I humbly await your reply.
Debora, YES, I WOULD BE HONORED IF YOU WILL REBLOG MY PAINTINGS. I THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUING INTEREST. YOU HAVE MY PERMISSION AND THANKS!. NO NEED, IN THE FUTURE TO CHECK WITH ME FIRST.

Once again, I feel a strong urge to try out painting like this. Everything about this draws me to it.
